Tasmania is an isolated island state off Australia's South coast noted for its vast rugged wilderness areas, largely protected within State and National Parks, or special conservation reserves – many listed as World Heritage Sites. Separated from Australia by the Bass Straight and surrounded by cold oceanic waters the nearest landfall to the South is Antarctica. There are many beautiful cool temperate rainforests with stunning waterfalls. The coastal areas are remote save for occasional fishing villages. Tasmania is truly a delight to photograph – Gigi and I hope you enjoy our selection of images. Other photographs of Tasmania can be found in our Black-and-White galleries and Port Arthur features in the Projects gallery.
