Representational work includes photographs that are clearly derived from real object sources, and therefore are, by definition, representing something with strong visual references to the world. In its most pure form photography is the ultimate representational artform. Gigi and Robin spent their working lives as medical/scientific photographers and reached the highest level of recognition in this genre; which demands clear, accurate and unaltered images. Since retirement from full-time practice both Gigi and Robin have concentrated on representation of the natural world. They do this with the inevitable sensibilities of scientific photography: there is no room in their imagery for alteration of the subject. However, both photographers have always recognized that beauty can be found in the natural order of the world and the photographs in these Galleries are evidence of this.
