Thomas Hardy's Parish Church. He played in the Church Choir and continued to attend services here well into old age, despite being a self confessed agnostic. The story of the replacement of the church 'choir' (a small band of musicians and singers) with an organ forms the basis of "The Melstock Quire" - which eventually becomes "Under the Greenwood Tree".
