Sitting Room, Hardy Cottage
The close family circle at the Hardy Cottage was headed by his Grandmother who had been in charge of the family building business since the death of her husband. Hardy's parents were loving and attentive and quickly realised that his frailty was accompanied with considerable talents. Hardy's grandmother and mother read extensively to the young Hardy who was initially at least 'too weak' to go to school.
